REPORT | Barrow Raiders 24 Dons 19

The Dons fell to defeat on the road as they lost out to Barrow Raiders at the Northern Competitions Stadium.

Richard Horne's men were clinical in the first half and led at the break thanks to an Edene Gebbie brace and a Reece Lyne try.

Lyne secured his own brace after the break, but the hosts completed a second half comeback to take the two points.
Horne made one change to the side that started in the Good Friday win over Sheffield Eagles as Hull FC loanee Jack Charles came into the starting XIII. Andre Savelio also featured as an interchange for his first minutes in Dons colours.
The hosts enjoyed plenty of the ball in the opening stages of the game, but it was the Dons' clinical edge that saw them take charge of the opening 40.
And the scoring started after just eight minutes. Brad Hey intercepted on the last Barrow tackle and found Gebbie, who ran the length of the pitch on the left wing to trouble the scoreboard for the first time.
Although the Dons had control at the break, the first half was far from one-way traffic, as Andrew Bulman dived in at the right-hand corner to level the scores four minutes later.
It didn't take long for Horne's men to retake the lead as they raced in for a try similar to their first after 13 minutes. Connor Robinson won the ball back on the left and found Gebbie, who again raced clear and raced over the line. Craig Hall added the extras.
Gebbie almost secured his hat-trick on 19 minutes after catching a huge throw out wide from Connor Robinson and diving in at the corner, but the ball wasn't securely put down.
The Dons were left to rue that missed opportunity as the Raiders reduced the deficit to two points when Tee Ritson got on the end of a ball out to the left and raced in.
A spell of back-and-forth penalties erupted in the minutes towards the break, and the Dons eventually made one pay after 36 minutes. Horne's side this time shifted play out to the right and found Lyne, who powered his way to the line.
The visitors furthered their lead to eight points a minute before the hooter as Hall pinned a drop kick between the sticks.
Barrow raced out of the traps after the break and brought themselves within a point after four minutes after the restart when Curtis Teare raced in on the left and put down in the middle to leave Brad Walker with the easiest of conversions, as the pendulum began to swing in the home side's favour.
The Raiders then took the lead after 52 minutes when Ryan King squeezed over the line under the posts, leaving Walker with the easiest of conversions again.
The hosts were awarded a penalty on 62 minutes, only for Walker to hit the post.
The Dons looked to make that miss pay and moved themselves within a point five minutes later. Horne's men moved the ball around on the last tackle and eventually found Lyne, who smashed his way through to secure a brace.
Walker had another bite at the cherry with another penalty kick, but he again hit the post.
But Barrow took the game away from Horne's men with six minutes to play, as Teare found a gap on the left and sliced through to find the line and secure his brace.
The Dons pushed to make inroads in the remaining time, but the hosts' defence held strong to take victory.
Dons: Hall, Briscoe, Lyne, Hey, Gebbie, Charles, Robinson, Bowden, Burns, Matagi, Jones, Sutcliffe, McConnell. Interchanges: Baldwinson, Tali, Boas, Savelio.
